Take Your Day

anniestmartinshoot-2

Imagine your normal day. The kind of day that reminds you to get away from all of this…the routine, the rat race, the repetitive nature of all of our lives. Even when we think we don’t have routine, it’s probably denial knowing that you have already conformed to the inevitable…life, maturity, being responsible, etc. The alarm clock goes off in the morning, you shower, get dressed, coffee, breakfast, make lunch, listen to the depressing sounds coming from the radio or television, get in the car for the commute, noticing your stress level is increasing every time you see someone else doing something stupid behind the wheel, arriving for your workday feeling more jitters than you want and knowing in 8 hours you do the exact same thing in reverse. It’s a day we dread, but we all live it no matter what our profession is. It’s like we all tried to tell ourselves and our friends that this would never happen to me. I won’t become the pawn; I won’t become the “norm”. If you can relate to any of this, than you are what we call an adult.

So in the spirit of fighting the power and washing away the crutch of everyday dullness and static mundane torture of cubicles, laptops, water coolers and the ever depressing fluorescent lights of life, take a personal day. Find one day a week when you can unwind, relax, live, breathe, laugh, party and dance with no judgement or whatever you want it to be. Take your day. You will soon realize that all that pent up anxiety, aggression and stress will come out of you like a wild fire or worse if you don’t.

Our day is a dip in the ocean whenever we can, to wash away the worries. For some reason it is and always has been our way of bringing in new energy for whatever is ahead of us. Therapeutic waves of sun, surf and sand. It’s nature’s bath that cleanses the soul and recharges the creative juices of life.

It makes us sound like a bunch of hippies again and maybe deep down we are, but days like this make everything in the world right again. In life, its days like this that most of us will never take enough of. But it doesn’t have to be an ocean, it can be a park, a day at the gym, a night of dancing, reading a book, visiting a museum or a gallery, eating your favorite sandwich, watching the world pass you by on a patio or the lazy man special and just do nothing.

It’s your day. Let it all go, or hold it in and see how long it takes until the stress fart of life comes out when you least expect it.

A Funny World…

It’s a funny world we live in. You can get angry, you can rebel against the cause and you can voice your opinion no matter how big or small the complaint. You can live your life with stress and you can live yourself to death trying to fight a battle you may never win. Our advice is to wake up every day and just live. Live to the best of your ability and laugh at those caught up in the rat race of life and those who forget to enjoy the minutes, moments and time we are given on this beautiful place we call earth.

We’re not a couple of hippies living off the land and seeing everything through rose colored glasses (although a VW Bus trip around the world would be a dream) We’re just two people refusing to let someone else tell us how we are supposed to live and more importantly we are two people who won’t be told to be afraid to live. Life doesn’t stop, unless you let it stop. The beauty in a day from start to finish doesn’t disappear because of one happening in the world. The journey is yours for the taking. Sit and stare at it if you want, but you will miss out on what might be some of the greatest times of your life.

The world isn’t a perfect place. But it is a perfect place to live your life and take in the awesomeness and the chances we are given.

Take each day….live, love, look, listen and laugh at everything we can. A good day will always follow.

Finding Your Place…

dsc_1158

Finding your place is harder said than done. It is truly one of the hardest things you as person will figure out in life…or maybe it’s just us.

For two travelers, it’s the question and the answer that changes almost daily. Based on mood, needs, creative inspiration, finances and what is actually possible. The answer is never right. So what do we do? We keep looking and that is just part of what makes us who we are and why we have come to love so many far off corners of the world.

When you actually sit and think of all that is wrong in the world, be confident that there is more right than we think or we are led to believe. Caroline and I like to think of travelling as running to somewhere instead of running away from something. It’s not about escaping the issues; it’s about rediscovering a world that we are told doesn’t exist. It could be a beach, a trail, a street an alleyway that has been out of view for too long. It’s about looking around a corner and seeing something new. It’s about being lost and confused and loving every minute of it.

So the question is do you really find your place…Do you settle? Or do you walk, discover, learn, live, love, grow, and laugh your way through life…share your experiences and stories with others and educate yourself through the school of wanderlust.

Settle if you want to…but don’t forget what’s on the other side of the street.

Surf, Sun and Sand in random places…

We spent an amazing week finding out that sand can get into places you didn’t even know existed on the human body. It was so much fun, we decided to bring a beautiful model named Mercedes (Instagram @mercedesg_benz) with us.

Here’s a little behind the scenes we thought we would share.
